Co-Founder
Shai Wolkowicki is the Principal & Founder of The W Companies, where he leads the firm’s vision, investment strategy, and overall platform growth. He brings more than two decades of experience across real estate investment, development, capital markets, and asset management. Over the course of his career, Shai has assembled nearly 2,000 apartment units—including a 248-unit ground-up Class A multifamily development in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood—and has developed more than 2,000,000 square feet of new construction retail for national credit tenants. His background spans multiple asset classes and strategies, with a proven track record of executing complex transactions at scale.
Before founding The W Companies, Shai launched Shai Town Realty Group Inc., a full-service real estate brokerage and management firm that grew to more than 40 agents. In parallel, he began acquiring and developing single-tenant assets and neighborhood retail centers across the United States, establishing the foundation for what would become The W Companies’ investment platform.
Shai began his career at Merrill Lynch in the Emerging Markets Fixed Income division, developing trading strategies for debt and credit derivatives. He later joined TIAA-CREF as a Credit Risk Associate, where he analyzed debt, equity, and real estate portfolios for the firm’s $400+ billion retirement fund.
Shai is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and staying active.
